RAINN

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. Their website includes resources specifically on intimate partner sexual assault and on recovering from sexual violence in general, in addition to lots of other articles and resources on sexual assault.

Support Groups

To find the nearest support groups for sexual assault survivors, and to inquire about referrals to trauma-informed therapists, call 800-656-HOPE (4673).

Books:

Life Reinvented:  A Guide to Healing From Sexual Trauma For Survivors and Loved Ones
by Erin Carpenter.

This is a terrific resource for healing from assaults or abuse you have experienced as an adult or earlier in life. (My only caution about it is that some parts of this book can lead you to believe you need medication for your emotional problems, which is not usually true.)

I Will Survive: The African-American Guide to Healing from Sexual Assault and Abuse
by Lori Robinson.

I recommend this book highly whether you are African-American or not.
